The 2024 Spring Stream Team is a paid environmental training partnership between the Youth Employment Partnership (YEP) and Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC). YEP provides job training, education, and housing for Oakland youth and young adults, and FOSC works to conserve, restore, and enhance the Sausal Creek Watershed by educating future generations, involving the community in environmental stewardship, and collaborating with agencies and nonprofits. We support Oakland’s biodiversity and are working toward a climate-resilient future.

The Spring Stream Team will be responsible for learning about local ecology and working to protect it. As an intern, you will be trained and paid for your participation, earning a stipend and hourly wage.

What to expect

  • We’ll be visiting and working outside in several of our local Oakland parks and green spaces in our neighborhoods: hiking, using tools, planting, getting a closer look at plants and wildlife.
  • Wear clothes and shoes with good tread that you don’t mind getting dirty. Wear layers, bring a reusable water bottle.
  • We’ll be in a mix of classroom training and outdoor training. You will be given a schedule with all the details once accepted.
